To The Republic For Which It Stands

In some schools today, our kids are not even aware of what the pledge is or why we should know it.  As a Christian, (and not affiliated with any political party) ultimately I pledge my allegiance to God.  However, I think it’s indisputable that God has blessed this nation and given the men who founded it some simple ideals to stay true to that which made the United States great.

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

In the Pledge of Allegiance we all pledge allegiance to our Republic, not to a democracy. “Republic” is the proper description of our government, not “democracy.” I hear both Republican and Democrats say things like, “We need to spread democracy around the world.”  Why does it matter if we spread “democracy”? Or does it matter?

I am grateful that LIFE Leadership continues to produce world-class products, such as Orrin Woodward’s new book And Justice For All, to share information that helps us understand the true nature of liberty.

Watch this short video that explains the difference between a democracy and a republic and why it matters.

  1. Great post Tim. That video gives a great explanation between a Democracy and a Republic. I didn’t really understand what an Oligarchy was, so that was interesting to know. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great info! I find so many people who don’t know even the basics of their own government. Fighting the decay of our country requires leaders (like the ones in Life Leadership) with the correct information and education to make positive change. With the leadership, system, and educational materials that Life Leadership offers, we will overshoot the 2 1/2-5% needed to get us back on track!

  3. What a great descriptive video. I will keep this video on the back burner and may occasionally pull it out when I hear those dubious “more equality, more democracy” type quotes.

    Great share, buddy. Thanks.

  4. Hi Tim(bo), just wanna say thank you for leadership and you are a big inspiration to me from the 3rd day I got in to life leadership (cuz SUPERMAN is in pack #2) your teaching CDs are 1 of my favorite (maybe it’s the personality, lol) & I’m now reading your book “Confidence of a champion”, (I’m upto “take action” chapter) I’ve never read any books before I came into LIFE, so I’m working on developing the habit of reading (I’m upto book #15 since beginning of 2014) I already feel a difference in my confidence by making phone calls, STP , and talking to ppl in general, cuz I’m not a ppl person I know that this is what was holding me back a lot from growing in the business (simple, I didn’t like ppl) but by reading ur book I realized that it’s not others, it’s my self-esteem, and specially my self-talk, so thanks again for taking the time to write such a awesome book, I’ll put it for #6 (after the top 5) to re-read often.
(p.s. I’m Jewish, I like what you wrote in the beginning of the book about “eat the meat and spit out the bones).
